PLAY, WEAR, LAYER!
The functional quality of retro wear serves as a source of inspiration for LEYA. Clean, practical and recognizable silhouettes are the heart of LEYA, coupled with an exploration of classic shapes, proportions and fun details. LEYA's style is personal and ever-evolving: by playing with the LEYA closet and building looks with lively colors and layerable pieces of the collection, LEYA's aesthetic comes to life.
Having studied at Central Saint Martins, Anita experienced the art of extravagant, experimental, and uber-contemporary designs. However, she has always had an affinity for everyday clothing, particularly the bold yet playful, timeless pieces from the 70s and 80s. Clothing represents more than just pieces of garment. Everyday wear embodies the mindset of its people, and in turn, shapes the culture of its time. Anita wants her audience to have their own interpretation of LEYA’s aesthetic by creating from the LEYA closet, as fashion is a reflection and result of its wearer.
Anita’s playful approach stems from mixing her style with that of her two brothers in her adolescence. She furtively rummaged through their closets to incorporate their oversized and boyish elements into her own wardrobe; pairing her brother’s oxford shirts with her more-fitted pieces. She created LEYA with this contrasting, comfortable mindset: womenswear can be more dynamic.
